UK’s Longest Established Renewable Energy Company Adds Phev Van to Their Collection
As a pioneering renewable energy company who provide power systems for all types of applications worldwide, we feel it is important to lead by example and be as environmentally aware as possible when it comes to day-to-day business operation.
When the time came to upgrade our company van after 6 years, we weighed up our options and decided to go down the most environmentally friendly route we could. With already having two BMW 330e plug-in electric hybrid company cars the decision to purchase the first Ford Custom PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) that our local dealer has sold was a no-brainer.
Our site in Corby already has the infrastructure installed that allows us to charge vehicles using 100% renewable energy generated from our solar panels.
Our PV system was installed back in 2011 and has now generated 137mwh of free energy.
Since moving the two company cars to plug-in hybrid technology, we have noticed our drivers run off electric 75% of the time, and the new van surpasses these figures with drivers running off electric 90% of the time. We feel this is a small step towards an all-electric and carbon neutral future for the Marlec company vehicles and our future goal is to run fully electric company cars starting with our new Managing Director going fully electric next year.
